The GE MWF is a genuine replacement fridge water filter for GE (General Electric) fridges. The MWF fits GE refrigerators which have a round, white, plastic filter. The filter is located inside the fridge, above the top shelf, at the back of the fridge.

How long should my GE Fridge Filter last?

Refrigerator manufacturers strongly recommend that fridge water filters are replaced every six months, or as soon as the ‘change filter’ light appears either on the front display panel or near the filter cartridge casing in your refrigerator. However, if you notice that the clarity or the taste of your water has changed, this is an indication that it is time for a new water filter. Replacing your water filter when this occurs ensures that your water remains fresh and that the ice and water mechanisms in your fridge are protected from any corrosion. 

INSTALLATION

1. Locate the existing filter at the back right hand corner of your fridge.
2. Turn the filter anti-clockwise until you feel that it’s free.
3. Pull the filter down to remove.  
4. Discard old filter.
5. To install a new filter, remove the top protective cover.
6. Fill the new filter with water from the tap.
7. Align the arrow on the filter, with the arrow on the filter head compartment.
8. Insert the filter into the filter head, and turn to clockwise (right) until it stops.
9. Once the new filter is installed, dispense about 5 litres of water through the fridge water dispenser to flush the system.

Resetting the ‘change filter’ light:

To reset the water filter, locate the RESET FILTER button on the control panel of your refrigerator. Press and hold the RESET FILTER button for 3 seconds.
