Reasons You Should Buy Your Water Filter from an Australian BusinessRead more >>The Risks of Buying from Overseas Sellers
When you purchase products from international websites, you’re not protected by Australian consumer laws. This also applies to purchases made through third-party platforms. These sellers can easily avoid any consumer law obligations, and the platform itself only serves as a facilitator of the transaction. This means that if your product is faulty or fails to meet expectations, the seller has no responsibility to assist you. This lack of accountability can also affect your insurance coverage. For example, if a defective product, like a water filter, causes extensive damage, your insurance may not cover the costs if the provider lacks a presence or insurance in Australia or New Zealand.
Moreover, overseas sellers can make bold claims about product specifications and standards without facing any repercussions. This often results in low-quality items with counterfeit branding, meaning you may not get what you paid for. Certifications such as NSF and NSF/ANSI, while they might increase the cost of your filter, guarantee that the filter has structural integrity and legitimate health claims.
