The water filter in a LG refrigerator lasts for up to 6 months.
The light on your fridge is programmed to come on every 6 months when your filter is due, but keep in mind - the light may reset if the fridge has any power outages. There can also be other environmental factors affecting the 6 months, such as earth movements. I.e constuction or weather in your area causing excess sediment to come through, or low dam levels. A good way of knowing if your fridge filter needs changing prematurely, is if your water flow slows down, or you are experiencing different tastes and odours from the fridge water.
For more info on when to change your LG refrigerator filter, read our Fridge Filter Replacement Guide.
It is not reccomended that you use your LG fridge water without a filter. Using your fridge water without a filter can cause a build up of contaminants in your water line which produce increased sediment and bad tastes and odours.
If you have an internal fridge filter and you decide to use your fridge without a filter, a bypass filter or plug will be required.
How to reset the filter on your LG refrigerator will depend on what model you have.
Some fridge models have a filter reset button where others utilise the ice type button, some use the child lock button or some fridges may require you to hold 2 buttons simultaneously.
The best way to determine your light reset is to refer to your fridge manual and follow the manufacturer's instruction. If you are unable to find the information, please give us a call on 1300 115 754 for one of our friendly team members to assist.
